MateBook X Pro Bottom Creaking Fix

The Problem

The bottom of the Huawei MateBook X Pro makes a creaking or squeaking noise when you lift the laptop by a bottom corner.

The Cause

The noise is not caused by the laptop’s body but by the crinkling of the battery’s wrapping. You are exerting pressure on the battery area, slightly bending the bottom panel and pressing the battery.

The Solution

Warning: this will most likely void your warranty. You are liable for any damage to your device.

  1. Remove the big heatsink plate.
  2. Gently disconnect the battery from the motherboard.
  3. Unscrew and take out the battery.
  4. Use tape to stretch out the battery wrapping’s wrinkles, or rip off the battery wrapping altogether.

brad could you please make a video tutorial

Petr

Hi Brad, I ripped off the battery wrapping (both sides), but I still hear creaking (maybe more than before). Any idea what now? Iam afraid to use tape, because that might heat battery up.

Tonglen

I simply tigthened the screws and the crackling sound disappeared.
No need to open the laptop.
