Between November 14 and November 21, Lenovo’s official YouTube channel uploaded 3 videos about the ThinkPad X1 Yoga. All 3 videos had the “Powered by 7th Gen Intel Core i7” outro:
As of November 24, 2016, all models of the ThinkPad X1 Yoga have the 6th generation (Skylake) Intel Core i5 or i7 processor, not the 7th generation (Kaby Lake).
One of three things could have happened here:
- Lenovo took the info from the upcoming X1 Yoga and accidentally leaked it onto the video for the current model.
- Lenovo’s marketing team assumed that the current X1 Yoga has a 7th gen (Kaby Lake) processor and advertised it so without confirming. (Just like they assumed the Yoga 910 had no bezel on all sides of the screen and ignored the webcam position.)
- The video is actually for the new upcoming X1 Yoga, and Lenovo released it early.
